ANTILLES

Built at the Brest arsenal, ANTILLES was commissioned by the French Line in 1953. Along with her sister ship FLANDRES, she operated the regular passengers service between LE HAVRE and THE ANTILLES. Resembling a grand white yacht, her luxurious amenities made her a highly appreciated vessel.

Her career dramatically ended  in 1971, burned in a catastrophic fire off the coast of Mustique Island, damaged by an uncharted reef. Although ANTILLES did not achieve as much fame as NORMANDIE or FRANCE, she is definitely one of my favorite liners.
